Research Assistant, Marcel Schilder

My work is very practical which is enormous fun. I spend most of my day in a laboratory where I am very 'hands on', conducting experiments, compiling samples and assessing results. I need to be 'on the ball', especially when watching experiments that don't go to plan as I have to improvise at the last minute.

Working in a research laboratory is challenging because the projects are constantly changing. The researchers I work with rely heavily on my practical knowledge and make me feel very much part of the team.

My spare time is taken up doing 'DIY' on my house, but I also like sailing and tinkering with machinery.
