Department Manager, Mark Sexton

I am the manager of the Long Product Rolling Department, which covers products such as railway tracks and shipbuilding plates. I have progressed relatively quickly up the career ladder and my work is challenging and varied. I was given responsibility from an early stage which was very exciting.

For the right person, opportunities here are excellent, and you can climb the business ladder either via the management route as I did, or as a technical expert, depending on an individuals skills and capabilities.

It is very rewarding to be in charge of a team of people who successfully bring innovation projects to life, both in the lab and on plant trials. I also get to work with people who are world experts in their field and there is nothing more satisfying than being involved in launching a brand new piece of technology.

In my spare time I like to rebuild old classic cars.
