Nuisance

Our processes are large and complex and many of our production facilities are located close to residential areas. We recognise our obligations to the communities in which we operate, and we face an ongoing challenge to ensure that we do not cause nuisance or distress to local residents.

In our Corporate Responsibility Report 2006, we reported that we had surpassed our target to reduce public complaints by 10% compared with 2003, achieving a 50% reduction in the number of complaints. Figure 16 shows that we have maintained this level of performance relative to 2003. Our complaint management systems ensure that all complaints are thoroughly investigated, so that we can learn from our mistakes, implement corrective action and then provide feedback to complainants.
