Internet Teaching Resources
The ICT in these multi-media programmes is an integral and essential part of teaching science and design and technology, helping learners to build on and test their own understanding.
Chemistry of Steelmaking
Key Stage/s: 3 & 4 (11 - 18 year olds)
Science
Corus, in collaboration with Industry Supports Education (ISE) has developed an internet teaching/learning aid devoted to the Chemistry of Steelmaking. Look at the methods of steelmaking used and the chemical reactions that take place. You will learn about chemical additions during the process and the properties of the steel produced.

Physics in Steelmaking
Key Stage/s: 3 & 4 (11 - 18 year olds)
Science
Corus, in collaboration with Industry Supports Education (ISE) has developed an internet teaching/learning aid devoted to the Physics in Steelmaking. There are many applications of Physics in industry and these resources look at some of them: 'Loud but clear' - sound in steelmaking 'Hot metal' - heating and cooling and ionising radiations.

Steel for many purposes
Science, Design and Technology
Key Stage/s: Post 16 (16 - 18 year olds)
This Corus resource on Specialist Steels provides an in-depth account of the structure and properties of steel and includes sections on the way steel can be treated to change its properties, special steels for special purposes and how steel is tested. This resource supports sections on steel within a wide range of science courses such as A Level and AVCE..

SteelMATTER
Key Stage/s: 3 & 4 (11 - 18 year olds)
Science
This innovative web-based learning aid on ferrous metallugy, developed by Corus and the MATTER Project, is designed to encourage students to appreciate how the properties, processing and microstructure are important in designing steel for a given application. Case studies include automotive gears, structural plates, car body panels and beverage cans. There are fast links to interactive experiments and simulations. The MATTER software enables the student to control the important parameters of the simulations.
