Education support
Corus is active in supporting education, working with schools, universities and other institutions.
We develop learning materials, provide sponsorship and scholarships, award prizes and grants, and utilise the imagery and usage of steel to explain key concepts and learning points
Our primary purpose is to encourage interest in, and enthusiasm for, the study of materials science and its application in engineering, manufacturing and technology-based industries
The Corus Education Support Service is responsible for a UK education support programme and co-ordinated quality links with local education contacts of the Corus Business Units.
A key aspect of this programme is the production by Corus and its partners in learning of an extensive portfolio of teaching resources. The main focus is on science, mathematics, design and technology and the Environment, although some resources relate to business studies.
Resources
Resources are available for Primary, Secondary and Post 16 in Science, Maths, Design and Technology, and the Environment plus Business Studies in the Secondary section.
Teacher Guides
A number of curriculum guides are available in electronic format which indicate how Corus education resources relate to the various curricula and course specifications.
Picture Gallery
In the Picture gallery there is a large collection of images that are free for educational purposes. The categories include iron making, steel making, casting and rolling.
