Corus has announced a substantial rise in the price it pays for steel cans delivered to CanRoute collection centres throughout the UK. It is paying an increased amount to the CanRoute centres, which should be passed on in full by the CanRoute centres to collectors.

Teignbridge District Council will be able to recycle more steel cans thanks to the support of Corus Steel Packaging Recycling, Corus’ centre of expertise and advice on steel can recycling. Corus is providing the council with can sorting equipment, The steel cans will then be sent back to one of Corus’ CanRoute centres to be reprocessed to produce steel for new products.

This autumn will see a high-profile promotional and educational campaign to encourage the public to recycle household waste. Called 'The Big Recycle', it will begin on 18 October with a week of advertising and promotions. It will follow the launch of a national advertising campaign on recycling currently being developed by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
