The performance and use of Durbar
Q.How does Durbar differ from other patterned steel floor plates?
A.

Some products have lower yield strength than Durbar and therefore do not have Durbar’s structural capability. Patterns, too, differ. Durbar has a closely spaced pattern and strong angularity. The surface created by that pattern has been independently tested for slip resistance and is often used where safety is a factor, such as on working platforms, commercial vehicles, steps and play equipment. Durbar is manufactured to EN 10025-2 : 2004 and meets the requirements of the Construction Products Directive.

There is only one Durbar—specify it by name to be sure you get the original product by Corus.

Q.Is Durbar used only for industrial applications in buildings?
A.

No. It is used increasingly in commercial and residential applications too where it adds interest and contrast as stairs, balconies and floors, particularly in high-use locations. It can also be used as protective cladding on vehicle surfaces and at ground level on areas of buildings that are subject to impacts.

Q.Why should I choose Durbar over other flooring solutions?
A.

Because it is not only flooring, but also a structural component. Durbar is also cost effective, fast and comes with Corus quality.

Q.How does Durbar perform in extreme heat?
A.

The resistance of Durbar to extreme heat is better than the resistance of aluminium, for example. The suitability of Durbar for applications that may be subject to extreme heat depends upon the function that it performs in a design. Use the contact details below for advice about Durbar in extreme heat, including fire.

Q.Can Corus recommend decorative coatings for Durbar?
A.

There are non-slip paints and epoxy resins that can be used on Durbar, but you need to select ones that are suitable for the environment in which the coated product will be used. Keep in mind that coatings will reduce the stud height and sharpness of the slip-resistant pattern and therefore you should consider carefully the number of coatings you apply.
