Rolling and forming

Corus can roll cans, cylinders or part cylinders from plates. Two machines are available, the 1450 tonne capacity horizontal roll machine and the 5000 tonne capacity vertical roll machine. Maximum cylinder diameter depends on plate thickness.

The 1450 tonne capacity horizontal roll machine can produce cylinders up to 3050mm long with diameters up to 3517mm. The 5000 tonne capacity vertical roll machine can produce cylinders up to 3600mm long with diameters up to 10200mm.

1450 Tonne Capacity Horizontal Rolls

Capacity Range:800mm diameter at 40mm thick to 3517mm at 76mm thick Maximum plate width: 3050mm

Weight restriction of 20 tonnes per plate

Larger diameters are possible by special arrangements

5000 Tonne Capacity Vertical Rolls

Capacity Range:  maximum cylinder length 3600mm

Minimum achievable diameters on a 3000mm long cylinder:

   875mm at thickness ranging from 25mm to 50mm
   1200mm at thicknesses ranging from 55mm to 60mm
   1250mm at thicknesses ranging from 65mm to 80mm
   1450mm at the thicknesses ranging from 90mm to 110mm
   Above 110mm to 200mm thick by arrangement

Maximum standard plate weight = 20 tonnes

Plate weights above 20 tonnes can be processed by special arrangement. Largest achievable diameter: 10200mm
