Mould Thermal Monitoring

The product utilises thermocouples in mould plates to provide information in real-time related to mould conditions and the occurrence of surface defects. In addition to sticker breakout detection the system has the potential to detect other types of breakout.

The Mould Thermal Monitoring System is a multi-process system, capable of recording plant information, performing all necessary calculations, storing data to disk and updating display screens on a second-by-second basis. A sophisticated algorithm is used for sticker breakout detection and if sticker behaviour is detected, a control signal is sent to the plant PLC to slow down the caster automatically, thus allowing the defect to heal. A variety of state-of-the-art displays have been developed to tailor to customer requirements. Review facilities include tools for monitoring historical performance and a real-time data “playback” for replaying key events.
