Ironmaking Course
This course is aimed at Senior Operators to Section Manager personnel in the technical, production and engineering functions of the Ironmaking process from raw material import to hot metal export.
The objective is to make available the latest technical and operating information and to increase financial awareness by the use of a techno-economic model of a fictitious steelworks, whilst working on a team-based project.
Key areas covered include: Raw materials selection and preparation, Coke production and use in the blast furnace, Blast furnace theory, design, and operation, Refractories and slag, and Engineering issues. A computer-based project runs in parallel with the course.
