Track and Rail Studies and Modelling
Our Transport Engineering and Design Knowledge Group provide a range of skills in the areas of:
Railways products and performance, finite element modelling of customer products and processes and software development. We can also offer customer advice in the areas of product engineering and performance.
The railway area: offers the development of UHC rails, steel sleepers (both design and laboratory and in service testing), product qualification, track system modelling and in -service track monitoring.
Customer processes modelled, using finite element analysis (ABAQUS): offers welding, wiredrawing, forming, hydoforming and cold-formed section rolling.
Software developments in Visual Basic are used to create user-friendly front ends to the finite element and other models developed within the group.
