Corus raises UK flat rolled prices for Q4 of 2006
24 Aug 2006
Following the announcement by Corus that it will raise its flat-rolled prices in the UK, Corus Strip Products UK has confirmed the increases from 1 October 2006 for its business.
The basis prices for hot-rolled, cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanised products will increase by at least £25 per tonne.
In addition, prices for certain hot-dip galvanised extras will increase. The price extras affected are for coating weights greater than 275g/m2—although there is a discount for a lighter coating weight of 200g/m2—and for thickness and width.
The price increases come in the face of higher costs for raw materials, particularly zinc, and energy.
Whilst stocks in Corus’ UK and European supply chains are normal, the business continues to enjoy strong demand from service centres and end users, including those in the construction sector. The increases announced by Corus reflect tight market conditions in the steel industry.
