Steelmen take on the Scarlets!
20 Feb 2008
Followers of Welsh National League rugby will get the chance to watch it with a sprinkling of Premiership stardust this week when Corus Saints entertain Llanelli Scarlets.
Recent coaching sessions from Scarlets Development Coach Kevin George paid dividends in helping the Steelmen beat 2007 Division One Champions Bonymaen last Saturday. Now Corus will be looking to hone their skills even further with their ‘warm-up’ match against a Scarlets Select XV on Friday (February 22).
The team’s fantastic 10-6 win at Bonymaen looks to have helped Corus in their request to move out of the Division One relegation zone for the first time this season, and the players are hopeful of putting on an encouraging display against their illustrious neighbours.
“We’re hoping to take much needed confidence from our crucial league victory over Bonymaen into this high profile encounter against a side fielding household names such as Regan King,” said Corus second row Matt Davis. “Llanelli, on the other hand, will be looking to assess some of their up and coming players in a competitive environment.”
Corus Director of Rugby Mike Healy added: “We’ve been working closely with Llanelli of late, and Kevin George has certainly brought some great ideas into the camp, with our backs responding positively.”
Kick off this Friday is at 7pm at Corus Sports and Social Club, Margam. Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for OAPs and under-16s.
