Corus Port Talbot was the venue for a contest to find racing car designers of the future when it hosted the South Wales regional finals of the F1 in Schools Formula One Technology Challenge.
The competition challenges teams of students to use CAD/CAM software to design, test and manufacture miniature CO2-powered balsa wood F1 cars.
A purpose-built 20 metre track was used to test the speed of the model cars, with the 14 schools taking part judged on their design, engineering development, team work and project presentation.
With Corus also sponsoring the event, overall first place went to the team from Dyffryn Taf Comprehensive, Carmarthenshire.
