Teesside Cast Products

The Teesside Cast Products (TCP) business produced semi finished steel in the form of ‘steel slabs’.

However, Corus was forced to partially mothball TCP as the result of a decision in April 2009 when a consortium of four international steel slab buyers reneged on a binding 10-year Offtake Agreement, that was not due to expire till the end of 2014.

The partial mothballing of TCP started on 19 February 2010.

TCP’s Redcar and Southbank Cokeovens, the Redcar Wharf and parts of the power and energy operation continue to operate. More than 700 people will continue to work at TCP, including an expert team who will keep the plant in a state ready for restart.

Recent releases relating to TCP can be found below.
