Corus International Americas supply steel for World Trade Center Building
The replacement for 7 WTC, the old World Trade Center building destroyed alongside the Twin Towers in the 9/11 terrorist attack, is now nearing completion in New York with material booked through the Chicago office of CI.
The first to go up since the tragedy, the 54 storey building containing 5,400 tonnes of beams sourced through CC&I will house the power transformers required to supply electricity to the rest of the World Trade Center site as well as all of Lower Manhattan.
Won against strong competition from Arcelor, Nucor and Chaparral the order was won because of the business’ strong relationship with contractors Helmark Steel and also the competitive pricing and acceptable lead times the Schaumburg team were able to offer. The support provided by CC&I at Scunthorpe in the UK was also instrumental in winning the business.
