Global Hook-Up for Batavia Aerosols Business

19 Jan 2006

When DS Containers (DSC), a subsidiary of Japanese Aerosol manufacturer, Daiwa, were looking for a material supplier for their new aerosol line in Batavia Illinois, Corus were able to offer them an alternative solution to traditional manufacturing processes in the form of the Protact product made by Corus Packaging Plus at Duffel in Belgium.

DSC’s ‘Protact’ two-piece aerosol is now the first consumer package of its kind in the USA and Europe. Using proprietary technology developed by partner, Daiwa Can Company of Japan, the new container will initially target the aerosol sector, but is equally adaptable to other packaging formats and any liquid or viscous product. The use of Protact polymer coated steel makes it a highly versatile and adaptable package that accepts numerous closure systems for multi-purpose uses.

Because Protact comes pre-coated and no sheet-cutting or lacquering is required, the new line is able to use a coil-to-can system. Developments started in 2003 and in the trials that followed Corus were able to provide valuable technical support through     to commissioning in August this year. During this period the Corus International offices in Illinois and Tokyo were able to offer on the ground support by hosting visits, discussions with the customer and essential follow-up work.
