High level competition for Hong Kong tallest building
22 May 2007
In the face of intense competition from local traders and stockists representing steel mills from all quarters of the globe Corus International Asia has taken the high ground with an order for 8,000 tonnes of plates sourced from Asia for the world’s fourth tallest building now under construction in Hong Kong. With a total building height of 484 metres and 118 floors the International Commerce Centre (ICC) project, formerly known as Mega Tower and the centrepiece of the Mass Transit Railway Kowloon Station Development, will also hold the record for being the tallest building in Hong Kong.
With the customer requiring two shipment destinations, the fabricator’s yard in China and the project site in Hong Kong, delivery was divided into various lots starting from Q4 2006 and continuing to Q2 2007. Underpinning this process was the good relationship - founded on confidence and trust - built up over time with both customer and supplier.
