Huw Morgan, Functional Trainee, Planning, Supply Chain
Since beginning my role within the Planning Department during early October, I have evolved as a Corus employee and as a person.
When I first started, I immediately became a part of the team and got stuck into the job through attending the weekly planning meeting. This involved meeting with numerous managers about the planning process through Port Talbot and Llanwern works.
After a few weeks I began to understand the processes at the works and I was let loose on the Port Talbot daily manufacturing plan! I was also reporting information to the Business Management Team, which includes Director of Supply Chain and is then fed to the Managing Director.
At present I am planning Llanwern works through the same processes as Port Talbot. I continue to play an integral part in planning at the Port Talbot harbour. Through my role I have also gained exposure to manufacturing techniques and dispatching departments (e.g. Transport planning and Distribution Operations). I have had the pleasure of dealing with key Corus Internal customers such as Corus Packaging in Llanelli and Corus Colors on Deeside with regards to the planning of their manufacturing lines and their stock levels.
During my first 6 months within Corus I have been lucky enough to gain masses of experience and exposure and have learnt a lot, although I know that there is plenty more for me to do and learn.
