Helena Pot, Delivery Operations, Supply Chain
Since joining the company in October 2004 I have been working for the Delivery Operations Department in Port Talbot.
This has included spending time in the Shipping Agency, Health and Safety office and working on departmental projects.
Duties and responsibilities within the Shipping Agency included liaising with the vessel’s Master, pilots, customs and stevedores and visiting the vessels on berthing and sailing. I also had the opportunity to spend time with the departmental Health and Safety office. Duties included rail crossing risk assessments on the works harbour and the external docks.
Besides the above I have also become accountable for several departmental projects and duties, which include projects addressing Health and Safety issues within the works harbour and external docks, proposing a departmental environmental ISO 14001-implementation plan and calculating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Being a Corus Trainee has given me the opportunity to become involved in many aspects of the Delivery Operations Department, which both gave me an insight in the workings of the department and introduced me to colleagues from other departments. To conclude, I recommend this Traineeship to anyone interested in a career within Corus.
