Who Are Corus Trainees?
This programme, aimed at people educated to 'A'-level standard, was introduced at Corus in South Wales in 2004.
A number of vacancies are now open across South Wales within the Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Process Development, Supplies, Human Resources, Product and Market Development functions and Civil Engineering Functions
Trainees begin employment within a designated departmental area, gaining knowledge about the department and business as a whole. Following an initial three-month probationary period, all Corus Trainees will receive support in their personal continuous development for a significant period of time afterwards. Trainees may then carry out a full time role in their particular department where they will be expected to add real value to the business through increased responsibilities.
Our recruitment process for trainees commences in April 2008. Applicants are asked to complete an application form, and should you be successful at this stage, you will be interviewed on the telephone. The final stage of assessment for trainees is an assessment centre, which lasts for one and a half days.
On commencement of their employment with Corus all trainees will complete a two-day business induction. This induction is aimed at introducing the trainees to the business and to accelerate their knowledge of our processes. Core elements will include Health & Safety training and an informal introduction to departmental managers.
Trainees will be provided with a structured development plan which will consist of various aspects of development including in-house technical training workshops to ease the individuals into their respective areas including the high performance skills of self awareness, team working and time management. As well as carrying out day-to-day work within their department, many trainees have the opportunity to get involved in some project work within their functional areas.
