Purchasing

Function summary
The products purchased include raw materials, energy, consumables such as paint, contractor services and capital equipment. The function can deal with contracts totalling millions of pounds in business critical situations. Those working in purchasing need to develop an understanding of national and international markets and learn how to manage a supplier base to ensure security of supply. Failure to procure raw material on time or to implement a new contract correctly can be costly in terms of time, production and money.
Managing the supply chain between our suppliers and the end-users in Corus, whilst striving to avoid surplus stock or duplication that adds cost but not value, is a significant challenge.
We recruit students and graduates with any degree discipline into Purchasing. You can expect a fast paced environment, so you will ideally have good negotiation skills, commercial awareness and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
