Logistics is the strategic management of all activities in order to maximise delivery on time, performance and customer satisfaction.
Degrees Required:
Ideally, 1st, 2:1 or equivalent
Any degree discipline (a numerate degree would be an advantage)
Function summary
The function is also responsible for ensuring that material arrives in the best possible condition and at an acceptable cost. Logistics’ vital role within the supply chain covers areas such as: production planning, warehouse management, transport planning and operations, managing contractors and Health & Safety. The roles incorporate a high level of inter-departmental communication and liaison, in particular with Commercial and Manufacturing areas.
We recruit graduates and students with any degree discipline into Logistics although a numerate degree would be an advantage. You will need good management and communication skills especially when dealing with representatives from other functions whose priorities may be different from those of the Logistics department.
Logistics graduates are often given early responsibility and will have to make quick decisions in order to keep the supply chain operating smoothly. Good problem solving skills as well as drive and enthusiasm are qualities well suited to the real-time logistics environment.
